DETERMINED TO REMEMBER

Determined to remember,
as an ocean swept over his pen
he gathered his words together
like pebbles on a beach.
Sitting there he started tapping them
one against the other
and in the splinters that sprang away
he saw faces, wild tresses.
He could not hold back
the outbreak of cries
and rushed into the water,
with the sky for infinity.
His memories turned the page
into a whirlpool.
